Description
The branch pipe (nozzle) is the final firefighting outlet attached to a charged hydrant hose. It controls and directs the water stream, usually via a lever-operated shut-off valve and adjustable pattern control that switches between straight stream and fog/spray.
Most Indian hydrant systems use a 63 mm inlet matched to the hose coupling, with a 20–25 mm outlet to achieve effective reach at 8–10 bar. Gunmetal or brass bodies resist corrosion and sparking, and insulated handles reduce heat transfer during prolonged use.
Adjustable nozzles allow firefighters to start with a protective fog pattern for approach, then switch to a jet for distance or height. Proper maintenance (flushing debris, lubricating the lever) ensures smooth operation during emergencies.
