Description
This is the primary hydrant hose used in Indian fire mains, built as a reinforced rubber-lined (RRL) fabric hose per IS 636 Type B. It uses a synthetic rubber inner tube for water seal, multiple layers of high-tenacity fiber reinforcement, and an abrasion-resistant outer cover that tolerates heat, ozone, and mild chemicals.
The standard 63 mm (2½") hose is the backbone of internal hydrant systems, connecting landing valves to branch pipes for high-flow firefighting. Typical lengths are 15 m or 30 m, with instantaneous or threaded couplings per IS 903 to ensure interoperability across fire equipment.
RRL hoses are designed for working pressures around 14 bar, test pressures around 21 bar, and burst pressures above 35 bar. When properly maintained, they remain flexible and reliable even in hot, humid Indian conditions.
