Description

The jockey pump is a small-capacity pump used to maintain pressure in the hydrant header. It compensates for minor leakage or thermal expansion so the main pumps don’t short-cycle on small pressure drops.

Jockey pumps are set slightly above the main pump cut-in pressure and typically provide 10–30 L/min at hydrant pressure. If the pressure drop continues, the main pump starts automatically.
