Description
PASS devices alert others when a firefighter becomes motionless or unconscious. In smoke-filled environments, the alarm is often the only way to locate a downed firefighter.
Modern PASS units integrate with SCBA and activate automatically when the air cylinder is opened. Audible alarms reach 95–100 dB for rapid location.
They are strongly recommended for confined space and interior operations.
