Water sinks below burning oil and turns to steam quickly. This can throw flaming oil out of the pan and spread the fire. Use an extinguisher marked for Class K cooking oil and fat fires.

As shown on the label: hold the extinguisher upright and pull out the safety pin; aim the nozzle at the base of the fire from a safe distance; squeeze the lever and sweep from side to side to cover the whole fire area.

The operating temperature is +5°C to +60°C, as marked on the label. Keep the extinguisher where it will not be exposed to temperatures outside this range, for example not directly beside a fryer or burner.
