Description
The fire brigade connection (siamese inlet) allows fire engines to pump water into the building’s hydrant network when additional flow is needed or pumps fail. The assembly typically has two 65 mm male inlets feeding a common manifold with internal check valves to prevent backflow.
It is mounted on an external wall or in a recessed box, clearly labeled and easily accessible to fire tenders. NBC 2016 requires FBCs for buildings with internal hydrant systems and fire pumps.
Proper caps and gaskets keep the inlets clean and leak-free, and periodic inspection ensures check valves seat correctly.
